I never said it actually was magical, merely that it felt that way :) Until you figure out the details on how it works it's entirely possible to end up simply confused - for example, it's possible to get into fever mode with a certain level of timing, but then you immediately lose it again with that same level of timing. That's just plain weird.

Things like that make the game significantly less fun. And yes, you get it eventually, but it hurts the game substantially.

There is something i don't agree with you. First off, there is anything "magical" in the Fever Mode. You just need to keep the rythm right. Once a get to half the game (after practicing A LOT, you are absolutely right about the learning curve) i player practically always in fever mode. The trick is to keep the rythm right. When you hit the drums in perfect timing, you can enter Fever Mode faster (for example, after 3 or 4 hits) At the end of the game i could even play it without the music, because i had the rythm inside my head (and in my feet :P) Besides that, i agree absolutely with the rest of your review. I even had to check a waltrough to understand what the heck was going on with all the differente patapons i was creating. Anyway, i really liked the game, and i think its one of the best psp games (FFVII Crisis Core is still the greatest)
